We are excited to announce the launch of our Post-Partum Moms Group, coming in the new year! The postpartum period can be a time of great joy, but it can also bring about a range of emotional and physical challenges. Many new moms experience feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, sadness, or isolation. For some, these feelings can develop into more serious concerns like postpartum depression or anxiety. The Post-Partum Moms Group is designed to provide support, validation, and connection for mothers navigating this complex phase of life.

Having a baby is a life-changing event, and it’s normal to feel a range of emotions during the postpartum period. Some common struggles that new moms face include:

  • Feelings of isolation and loneliness: Many new moms feel disconnected from friends, family, or their pre-baby life.

  • Anxiety and overwhelm: The pressure of caring for a newborn, coupled with sleepless nights and constant adjustments, can be emotionally draining.

  • Postpartum depression and mood swings: Hormonal changes, lack of sleep, and the stress of adjusting to motherhood can lead to feelings of sadness, irritability, or hopelessness.

  • Body image struggles: Changes in the body after childbirth can impact self-esteem and how a mother feels about herself.

  • Relationship challenges: The transition to parenthood can affect relationships, especially between partners, as both navigate their new roles.

How the Post-Partum Moms Group Can Help

  • Providing Support and Connection: Joining a group of other new mothers who are experiencing similar challenges creates a sense of camaraderie and understanding, reducing feelings of isolation.

  • Building Emotional Resilience: The group offers a safe space to process emotions and develop coping strategies to navigate the challenges of new motherhood.

  • Normalizing Experiences: Talking about postpartum struggles in a supportive environment helps moms realize that what they’re feeling is valid and that they are not alone.

  • Sharing Practical Tips and Strategies: In the group, you’ll have the opportunity to share experiences and learn helpful tips for managing anxiety, stress, and self-care as a new mom.

  • Encouraging Healing and Growth: Group therapy fosters personal growth and healing by providing validation, improving mental health, and helping moms develop a positive mindset as they adjust to their new life.

Led by Erin Vinski, LCSW, the Post-Partum Moms Group will help you feel heard, supported, and empowered as you navigate this important life transition. Stay tuned for more details on how to join the group and take the first step toward healing and connection in this challenging yet rewarding phase of life.

Group therapy is a powerful and supportive way to work through personal challenges while benefiting from the collective wisdom and support of others. In group therapy, a small group of individuals meet regularly under the guidance of a trained therapist to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. It provides a space for people to connect with others who are facing similar struggles, share coping strategies, and build a sense of community. At Beenen Therapy Group, our group therapy sessions offer a safe, non-judgmental environment where participants can heal, grow, and learn from each other.

Benefits of Group Therapy

  • Connection and Support: Group therapy creates a sense of belonging by connecting individuals with others who are facing similar struggles. This shared experience fosters emotional support and helps combat feelings of isolation.

  • Learning from Others: Hearing others’ stories and sharing your own can provide new insights, perspectives, and solutions to challenges. Group members often learn from each other’s coping strategies and experiences.

  • Building Social Skills: Group therapy helps individuals improve communication, listening, and interpersonal skills in a supportive and structured setting.

  • Increased Self-Awareness: Through group discussions and feedback, participants gain greater self-awareness, which can lead to positive changes in behavior and thought patterns.

  • Encouragement and Motivation: The group dynamic encourages accountability and motivation. Participants inspire one another to stay committed to their personal growth and healing.

  • Cost-Effective: Group therapy can be more affordable than individual therapy, making it an accessible option for many people seeking support.

  • Healing Through Shared Experiences: It helps reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges by allowing individuals to see that they are not alone in their struggles, fostering a sense of empowerment.

At Beenen Therapy Group, we offer a variety of group therapy options designed to address specific needs and life challenges. Whether you’re looking for support during a life transition, want to improve emotional regulation, or connect with others who share similar experiences, our group therapy sessions provide a unique opportunity for healing, connection, and personal growth.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Group

We are excited to announce the upcoming Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Group at Beenen Therapy Group, hosted by Meghan Jeffrey, LMHC. DBT is a highly effective therapeutic approach designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This group will provide a supportive environment where participants can learn and practice DBT skills alongside others facing similar challenges.

What is DBT?

DBT is a structured form of therapy that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. It is especially beneficial for individuals dealing with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, self-harm behaviors, and difficulties in maintaining relationships.

The primary goal of DBT is to help individuals create balance in their lives by teaching four key skills:

  1. Mindfulness – Being present and aware in the moment without judgment.

  2. Distress Tolerance – Building resilience and coping strategies for managing crises without resorting to unhealthy behaviors.

  3. Emotional Regulation – Learning how to identify, understand, and manage emotions in a healthy way.

  4. Interpersonal Effectiveness – Developing communication skills to improve relationships and assert needs in a healthy, respectful manner.

Benefits of the DBT Group

  • Enhanced Emotional Regulation: DBT teaches individuals how to manage and understand their emotions, reducing impulsive or destructive behaviors.

  • Improved Relationships: Participants learn to communicate more effectively, set boundaries, and navigate conflicts in healthier ways.

  • Increased Coping Skills: The group focuses on developing practical tools for managing difficult situations, reducing stress, and improving overall emotional well-being.

  • Support from Peers: Group members can connect with others who are experiencing similar struggles, providing a sense of shared experience and support.

  • Accountability and Motivation: The group setting fosters accountability, as participants motivate one another to practice DBT skills and stay committed to their personal growth.

  • Guidance from an Experienced Therapist: Meghan Jeffrey, LMHC, will facilitate the group, offering expert insights and support as you work to build your emotional resilience and coping skills.

The DBT Group at Beenen Therapy Group is an ideal option for anyone struggling with intense emotions, relationship difficulties, or self-destructive behaviors. Through the structured learning of DBT skills and the support of peers, this group will help you create lasting positive changes in your life. Stay tuned for more details on how to join!
