Trauma Therapy Overview
Trauma can be a deeply distressing experience that overwhelms an individual's capacity to cope, leading to lasting adverse effects on their emotional, mental, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. Unlike typical stress, trauma de-stabilizes a person's sense of safety and predictability in the world. It can result from a single incident (acute trauma), prolonged or repeated events (chronic trauma), or multiple, varied traumatic experiences (complex trauma). The effects of trauma can range from immediate shock, fear, and numbness to long-term issues like flashbacks, intense anxiety, relationship problems, and physical symptoms. With therapy, clients learn to process trauma in a safe and supportive space.
Our team is trained in a variety of trauma-focused therapy modalities based on client preference and uniqueness of the individual. These modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Brainspotting, and Parts Work Therapy.
